Northvale Manufacturing operated several plants with very different equipment, utilities, and reporting habits. Leadership wanted a credible path to lower emissions without slowing production or overcommitting capital, translating a broad environmental goal into specific, fundable decisions that plant managers could own and finance teams could defend.
The Challenge
Each site measured energy and emissions in its own way, so no one could compare plants or agree on where reductions would matter most. Estimates existed, but they were too rough to guide investment with any confidence.
1. Establish a shared emissions baseline
Bring every site onto the same measurement approach before promising any target. Define the sources that count, the period they cover, and who owns each number, turning carbon reduction from an aspiration into a set of comparable, decision-ready figures the whole business can trust.
Northvale needed a common way to rank opportunities so funding followed genuine environmental performance and payback, not internal negotiation.

We ranked reduction opportunities by impact, cost, and how quickly they could be delivered, then grouped them into a phased plan the business could commit to. Each measure carried a clear owner and a defined checkpoint, so progress stayed visible instead of stalling after approval.
